Only a quick post today as short of time but you can see previews of the Uruguay v Costa Rica and England v Italy matches here.
It was all going swimmingly well with Mexico getting us off to a winning start in a convincing 1-0 win which had it not been for bad linesman decision would have been much greater. then Spain took a one-nil win and after Sneider’s early chance had the first half well under control. They could have been 2 or 3 goals to the good but after Van Persie’s equaliser the Dutch began to belief and in truth wanted it much more than Spanish whose team consists of players that have already won everything. I still think Spain will come good and after a drift in their outright price it might be a good time to back them.
The Chile match ended as expected with the short favourite Chileans winning fairly comfortably. At 2-1 thought the Aussie’s had a few half chances and I’m reasonably happy with calling the draw the value in that one. Australia were more competent than a lot of people expected in all fairness.
On to day 3 then and I have to confess to knowing little about Colombia or Greece. I do know however, that Greece only lost 1 match in the whole of 2013 (out of 10) and their price of 5.5 looks too high for a match that could go either way and I’m hoping Greece can snatch a 1-0 win from a set piece against Colombia side who are without Falcao.
Uruguay are short against Costa Rica but unlike the Chileans I feel this is more justifiable and I’m backing them to beat Costa Rica this evening,
Call me mad but I also think England are a good price at just short of 2-1. The price is a tad shorter than it was but I still feel that England are the value pick. England have a freshness about them, a good balance and several young players like Lallana, Sterling and Sturridge and they who won’t feel the pressures that several England teams before them have.
