After dropping out of the top tier of English football, Norwich City will be looking for a quick re-entry into the Premier League. The Canaries will start their Championship campaign with a trip to the Midlands where Wolves will be waiting for them at the Molineux Stadium. Wolves were also fighting it out in the Premier League not long ago and they will be looking to return there as quickly as possible. The match on Sunday will be the season opener for both teams and promises to be an exciting affair.
Wolves have had a decent run in pre-season where they remained unbeaten. They have played a total of seven games in pre-season. They beat Cheltenham Town and Shamrock Rovers quite comfortably to start with and continued that trend against Bohemians.
Peterborough United held them to a 2-2 draw before Wolves won successive away games at Crew Alexandra and Oxford United. They were held to a 1-1 draw in the last match of their pre-season which was against Spanish side Celta Vigo.
Norwich City’s form
Norwich have also had a fairly decent pre-season and have remained unbeaten in the course of the five games that they have featured in this term. The Canaries started off with a 1-0 win over Dereham Town before crushing Braintree Town 6-1.
SC Bastia were next and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. In their fourth game of pre-season, Norwich crushed OGC Nice of France 5-1 before being held to a 2-2 draw by Celta Vigo.
Wolves: Nouha Dicko
The 22 year old winger who also doubles as a striker has been one of Wolves’ best players in recent memory. This will be the season where he will want to cement his reputation as one of the league’s best players.
Norwich City: Kyle Lafferty
Lafferty has a history of winning things at his past clubs. He won promotion into Serie A with Palermo and won titles in Scotland with Rangers. Norwich’s new signing will be key to their hopes of securing a Premier League berth for next season. On evidence of his current form, Lafferty will also be key to their hopes of winning the season opener on Monday.
Norwich look a tad bit better than Wolves presently. However, this being the season opener, the match will be hotly contested and any result is possible, I will go for bet365’s offer of 3.4 for a drawn game here which is amazing value for that result.
