Who will be the next Everton manager?

After Ronald Koeman’s rightful sacking on Monday afternoon we have another exciting next manager market to get stuck into.  The Toffee’s delivered another dismal performance in their 5-2 hammering at home to Arsenal on Sunday and despite it being only 9 games into the season, it was clear Koeman had got it all wrong at Goodison.

The current favourite to be the next Everton manager is Sean Dyche at best odds of 15/8. It’s a bit of a short price if you ask me, especially considering Burnley’s excellent start to the season. The Clarets are 8th in the premier league table and I’m not sure the man, who sounds like he eats gravel for breakfast will want to leave Burnley. He continues to shorten up but we have seen the bookies do this plenty of times before on these next manager markets.

A journalist from the Daily Mail tweeted earlier as if Dyche was a done deal. Take from that what you will.

Another front-runner  is David Unsworth who is priced 7/2 but would have to be a lay at those odds for the inexperienced coach who is in charge of Everton’s U23 side. He may well be asked to take temporary charge but a permanent appointment is unlikely.

Moyes (6/1), Ancelotti (7/1), Sam Allardyce (10/1) and Chris Coleman (12/1) currently make up the top 6 in the market. Moyes now without a job was of course in charge of Everton for 11 years and had an excellent win percentage of over 42%. Surely Everton won’t want to go there again especially given his lack of success in managerial roles since at Man Utd, Real Sociedad and Sunderland.

We’ve only seen £7,000 matched currently on the betfair exchange so far. Over £4,000 of it has been traded on Dyche but those kind of figures don’t suggest that anyones knows anything for sure at this stage.

Bring on the rumour mill!
