Turkey v Czech Republic | Betting Preview

Date: Friday, October 10, 2014
Venue: Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, Istanbul, Turkey
Kick off time: 19:45 hrs BST

The upcoming round of Euro 2016 qualifiers will see Turkey go head to head against visitors Czech Republic in their own backyard. Both teams have a mixed record coming into this game although the home team is slightly better placed to claim a victory on Friday.

Turkey’s form: L-W-L-W-W

The home side are coming into this game on the backs of a 3-0 away loss to Israel. However, in the fixture preceding this loss, Turkey had beaten Denmark in an away match by a couple of goals to one on September 3.

Turkey have won three of their last five matches which also includes a couple of wins over the Republic of Ireland and Honduras besides a loss to the United States in June earlier this year.

Czech Republic’s form: W-L-L-D-D

While the Czech Republic come into this match on the backs of a 2-1 win at home over Netherlands, the side have struggled in recent times. The win against the Dutch is their only win in the series of their last five competitive fixtures.

They have lost a couple of matches to USA and Austria in the couple of games preceding the match against Netherlands. The Czech side have also been held to a couple of 2-2 draws, first by Norway and then by Finland in a couple of fixtures in March and May earlier this year.

Key Players

Turkey: Olcay Sahan

Sahan scored Turkey’s first goal in their win over Denmark last month and the 27 year old midfielder will look to put in another power packed performance against the Czech Republic on Friday.

Czech Republic: Vaclav Pilar

The 25-year-old Pilar scored the winning goal for his side against the Netherlands. The Czech midfielder has also kept things ticking in the middle of the park and has earned some praise from his national team manager in the recent past.

Betting Advice

Turkey will start off as favourites in this game with bet365 offering 2.3 for their victory. A draw is at 3.3 while Czech Republic are a bets price of 3.5. I think Pilar could stun the hopes of the host with a goal and he is worth a punt at 4.75 to be an anytime scorer (bet365).
