Partick Thistle’s bad form ended in the Scottish Premiership after winning against Inverness and this weekend they entertain the relegation battlers, St. Mirren. St Mirren is eleventh in the league table without any wins and points. Partick have managed a decent eighth place after six games.
Partick Thistle form: D-L-W-L-W
Partick’s form is patchy this season; a big win against Ross County (Result: 4-0) was a high point. Last weekend they returned to their early season form by defeating an inform Inverness side (Result: 3-1). If they continue the good work, there is a good chance they will repeat the drubbing handed out to Ross County.
As Jags defender, Stephen O’Donell had said few days back that they need to play better to avoid drop. Seems they have turned a corner.
St. Mirren form: L-L-W-L-L
St. Mirren has been as disappointing as their fellow relegation battlers, Ross County. Such is their hapless attack; they scored their first league goal in five matches last weekend. Against Kilmarnock, St. Mirren started well but the final score was another defeat and no point since the start of the league.
A lot of work is required in training and they are certainly missing their star striker, Steven Thompson.
Partick Thistle: Kallum Higginbotham
The flashy English playmaker was a good player for Partick side last season with good performance in few games. This season he has been consistent for them; the best game of his season so far coming against Inverness where he played in a free midfield role.
His floating style of play is exquisite and can pick up a player’s run in front of him.
St. Mirren: Adam Drury
Among the St. Mirren squad, a few players can match the ability of Thompson. Adam Drury scored his team’s first goal since start of the league. He will be confident about his ability to find the back of the net.
Partick Thistle should have it easy against St. Mirren (2.1 at BetVictor) considering the league form but there could also be a tight defence and hence a shortage of goals in the encounter. BetVictor are offering 1.91 for less than +2.5 goals in the game.
