Lyon v Caen

Date: December 12, 2014
Venue: Stade de Gerland, Lyon, France
Kick-off time: 19:30 BST

The Ligue One game between Lyon and Caen will be the classic one that involves teams from the top half of the table and the ones languishing at the bottom. Lyon are placed third in the league table with 33 points, whereas, Caen are in 19th position with 14 points.

Caen will look to end their horror form in the league, though a win against Lyon will be too much to ask for.

Olympique Lyon form: W-D-L-W-W

Lyon stumbled against Bastia and St. Etienne before getting back to winning ways against Reims and Evian. Those games have set them back in terms of momentum and points. They are now three points off league leaders, Marseille.

Lyon’s wins against Reims and Evian were hard fought, yet they showed the character of the players and the coach. There’s lot of time to regain lost ground and with a squad they have, there’s great chance that they might do the unthinkable.

Caen form: L-D-D-L-L

Caen’s poor season continues with no wins in the past five matches. The only respite here will be the few draws they managed in between games. Their last game against Nice could have been their first win in many matches. Leading 2-1 in the first half, Caen were in commanding position but a whirlwind of a second half saw Nice down them.

This left a very bad taste in their mouths; hope that against Lyon they keep their composure.

Key Players

Olympique Lyon: Alexandre Lacazatte

The French hotshot is on song and his goal scoring exploits have made him a household name in France. Lyon has only one striker in Lacazatte who has found his shooting boots.

Caen: Mathieu Duhamel

Another French striker on display in this match is Mathieu Duhamel who is starting to find form and his confidence. In the last match against Nice, he impressed everyone and will look to continue the same form.

Betting Advice

Lyon obviously have the credentials and momentum with them to win this match, yet Caen can spring in a surprise. The visitors start at a mouth-watering 7.5 with BetVictor to win this and are definitely worth a punt or at least taking on a handicap.
