Nottingham Forest v Blackpool

Date: August 9, 2014
Venue: The City Ground, Nottingham, England
Kick-off time: 15:00 BST

Nottingham Forest will begin their regular season in the second tier of English football with a match against Blackpool. Forest have been rocked by player sales before the start of the season however, they have secured both Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow on loan for the upcoming season. Both teams will be very keen to begin their season with a win.

Nottingham Forest’s form

Forest have won the only match that they have played this season which was a pre-season friendly against Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion. Considering that West Brom played a nearly full strength team in the friendly game, one would assume that Forest have had a decent pre-season under former England under-21 manager Stuart Pearce.

Blackpool’s form

Blackpool suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Premier League new boys Burnley in their only pre-season friendly ahead of the start of the season in the English second tier. It has not been long since Blackpool tasted life in the Premier League and as the new season begins, the side based out of Bloomfield Road will be looking to set their sights on a return to the top tier of English football in a year’s time.

Key Players

Nottingham Forest: Henri Lansbury

The 23-year-old Arsenal youth academy product will be looking for a breakthrough season at Forest this time around. He was bought on a four year deal back in August of 2012 and he has had a decent run since then. However, the talented attacking midfielder has the tools to be great and now is the time for him to show his worth.

Blackpool: Bobby Grant

Grant’s season had been blighted by injuries last time around as he failed to prove his worth to his side as Blackpool finished 20th. He has only come back to the fold now and can prove to be a huge asset for Blackpool as they look to make considerable progress this year. The 24 year old will be looking to rediscover the kind of form that he was in, in the 2012-13 season, where he scored 16 goals for the season for Blackpool.
