Venue: Stade Saint-Symphorien, Metz
Kick off time: 19:30 hrs BST

Defending champions Paris Saint Germain will be paying Metz a visit on Friday as the two sides play in their Ligue 1 fixture. The home side are currently in 9th position in the league table with 18 points from 13 games. They are ahead of Stade Reims on account of a superior goal difference statistic. The visitors are flying high after a disappointing start and are currently in second place with 27 points from 13 games. Laurent Blanc’s side remain unbeaten in the league and are a point behind league leaders Olympique Marseille.

Metz’s form: D-L-W-W-L

The home side are coming into this fixture on the backs of a 3-0 trouncing at the hands of Toulouse in an away game on November 8. Prior to that game, the home side had posted a couple of successive wins in the league and in the Cup as they beat OGC Nice and Caen on October 29 and November 1 respectively. Metz have also drawn against Rennes and were beaten at Saint Etienne in the matches prior to the Cup game.

While the Cup match had gone to penalties, the match against Caen had been a good test for this side. Modibo Maiga’s double had given them a comfortable lead of 2 goals in the 50th minute of the game. However, Caen clawed back with a couple of strikes in the 65th and the 83rd minute of the game. However, former Chelsea and France winger Florent Malouda popped up with the winner in the final minute of the game and it ended 3-2 in favour of Metz.

PSG’s form: W-W-W-W-W

Paris Saint Germain have won five straight matches coming into this fixture. Their run had started with a Champions League win over APOEL in an away game on October 21. This game was followed by a 3-0 win over Bordeaux, who were above them in the league at that point of time. Brazilian winger Lucas had scored a brace with a couple of goals either side of half time on the occasion.

Next up was a 1-2 win away at Lorient with Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani and Jean Christophe Bahebeck on the score-sheet for PSG. This game was followed by another disciplined performance in the Champions League at home to APOEL. The defending champions come into this fixture on the backs of a 2-0 win against league leaders Marseille with Lucas and Cavani hitting the back of the net on November 9.

Key Players

Metz: Modibo Maiga has been in good form in Ligue 1 off late and the former West Ham United man has been scoring some important goals for his current club.

PSG: Lucas Moura has been at it for his club side for a while now. It appears that the man who moved to PSG after the 2012 Olympics had been particularly hard hit after being omitted from the Brazilian side which played the World Cup earlier this year. The winger has been doing his talking on the pitch these days and the signs are looking ominous ahead of this clash.

Betting Advice

The home side will really need to play out of their skins to even entertain the hopes of a draw (4.4 at bet365). With the kind of form that PSG are in, one would not be surprised if they came away with a huge win on Friday. PSG are 1.5 with BetVictor to register another victory and look a safe bet.
