Man Utd v Southampton Betting Preview

I’m really looking forward to this clash featuring two in form teams. United are actually becoming enjoyable to watch again, helped not least by the signing of Bruno Fernandez. Paul Pogba is back playing well too and Mason Greenwood is proving he’s an exceptional talent. They’ve won their last 5 games straight and averaged over 3 goals. They’re also unbeaten in 10 premier league games, winning 7 of them.

Don’t think the Saints don’t have a chance in this one though. They keep the ball exteremely well and their recent 1-0 win against Manchester City was no fluke. Southampton have lost just one of their five games post re-start (W3, D1, L1) and they’ve won six of their last nine PL away games. Danny Ings is a striker in form and he’s up to 19 premier league goals (3rd) which is incredible when you consider Southampton are only 12th.

United are now unbeaten in 17 matches in all competitions and you have to fancy them to make it 18 on Monday night. The reverse fixture ended in a 1-1 draw but Man Utd are proving they are a different beast now.

The odds on the Man Utd home win are ridiculously short at 1.33 though and there’s no value in that price. I think United will win but I don’t think it’ll be another 3 goal margin. I would have had United at around odds of 1.45.

All that considered, I’m backing Southampton +1.75 at a best price of 1.7 with Bet365.
