Last weeks prem picks couldn’t have gone any better with both Sunderland and West Ham winning emphatically and Chelsea also winning comfortably as predicted. Sunderland were actually 4-0 up at half time and with West Ham winning by 2 away from home, it’s times like these that make you think you should get extra profit for such easily winning bets. I guess that’s what spread betting is for.
In hindsight it looks like we played it a little safe backing the Black Cats on the asian handicap market but I don’t think anyone would have expected 4 away goals against Crystal Palace. With odds of 3/1 at home available, I’m more than happy to back Sunderland again this weekend against Southampton. The Saints have lost their last 2 and 6 out of their last 7 in total. Sunderland have scored in 9 of their 12 home games and will be full of confidence after their win last week.
Southampton are dangerous going forward but have been awful defensively and have also been plagued by injuries. They’ve conceded at least 2 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches and have looked very sloppy. You’d have to fancy Jermaine Defoe to get on the score sheet.

The other bet I like the look of at the Weekend is Spurs to beat Liverpool. Tottenham are 3 places above Liverpool and in much better form. What other reasons do you need to take odds of well over 2/1 on Pochettino’s men beating Klopp’s? Spurs are unbeaten in 5, Liverpool not won in their last 5 (all competitions). The Reds were embarrassed by a 2-0 defeat away at Hull last weekend and they’re a team struggling with confidence at the moment.
Tottenham have drawn a lot away (6 matches) but only lost twice in 12 matches and they’ve conceded less than 1 per game (11). Only Chelsea have conceded fewer on their travels. Both teams are near the top of the shots stats table with Spurs coming out top overall. I do think this a match that could go either way and so it makes sense to back the inform team at the better price.
