Lazio v Udinese | Betting Preview

Date: September 25, 2014
Venue: Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy
Kick-off time: 19:45 hours BST

Lazio are languishing 12th in the Serie A after just one win in three matches, while their opponents, Udinese sit 5th in the league table with two wins in three matches. For Lazio, it has been difficult to find form early in the season; Udinese, meanwhile, have been decent in their last three outings.

Lazio form: L-W-L-W-L

In the last match against Genoa, Lazio were in full control in the first half, which was totally one sided, but were not able to put to bed the chances they had. The Genoa keeper kept them at bay in a torrid first half.

They lost the tie and Stefan de Vrij for a second yellow. If Lazio are to win against Udinese they’ll have to be more clinical in front of the goal.

Udinese form: W-W-W-L-W

Udinese heaped further misery on Napoli this Sunday when they handed the Naples side their second successive defeat. Though Udinese did not do much to justify that they deserved the win, but a gritty display saw them keep the Napoli side studded with attackers quiet.

Their form is certainly patchy and a few players short of match fitness, but Udinese do have the firepower to sink Lazio’s ship.

Key Players

Lazio: Antonio Candreva

The mainstay in Italy’s midfield alongside Daniel de Rossi and Andrea Pirlo at the World Cup, Candreva impressed many with his box-to-box midfield display for the Azzurris. His drive from the midfield is essential to Lazio’s play and will be an important part in Lazio’s season.

Udinese: Antonio di Natale

The veteran Italy striker still has the fiery goal scoring instincts and desire to play for a top side. Against Serie B side, Ternana he turned back time by scoring five goals (Result: 5-1 to Udinese). A brace followed against Empoli in the first gameweek. He’s the sole in-form attacking star for Udinese.

Lazio will start favourites to win this game with BetVictor offering 1.91 for their win. Udinese still lack a player or two who can control the midfield, which is why they start at 4.75 to win this tie. I’m backing less than 2.5 goals to be scored in this fixture (best price 1.8 at bet365)
