The VANARAMA Conference will see Forest Green Rovers go head to head against Wrexham this weekend. The match has been billed as one of the most exciting matches that fans will be treated to in the English Conference. The teams are placed quite well ahead of the match and one can expect plenty of excitement from the fixture.
Forest Green’s form: W-W-D-D-D
Forest Green Rovers are currently unbeaten in the English Conference this season. However, three consecutive draws have seen the side slip to sixth place on the league table. While the most recent draw came against Wellington United on Saturday last, the Rovers have drawn against Bristol Rovers and Aldershot Town before that.
The two victories listed in the form sequence for the past five matches above came against Alfreton Town and Chester at home.
Wrexham FC’s form: L-W-W-D-L
Wrexham will be looking to do whatever it takes in order to get back to winning ways once more following their second defeat of the season, at home to Woking. Prior to that fixture, the Rovers drew against Macclesfield, won at Alferton Town and against Nuneaton while losing to Gateshead at home on August 12.
The side will be without both their regular midfielders Dean Keates and Jay Harris with both men nursing injuries to their hamstring and hip respectively. Rob Evans is set to start this week as well after impressing in his midfield role last week.
Forest Green Rovers: Lee Hughes
Hughes turned out for West Bromwich Albion between the years 1997 and 2001 and is quite well-known for a Conference player currently. The 38 year old veteran striker had a good time at Port Vale and Notts County before moving to Forest in January this year. With 3 goals for the ongoing season, Hughes is the top scorer for his team this season.
Wrexham FC: Louis Moult
The 22 year old striker was on the books at Premier League side Stoke City until he was released in 2012. His move to Northampton Town did not bear much fruit either. However with 17 goals in 43 games at Nuneaton Town, the striker finally saw his career start to take off. Now with Wrexham, Moult is the club’s leading scorer this season with 3 goals in 6 appearances. He will be looking to add to his tally when the teams go out to the park on Saturday.
The hosts have an unbeaten run and they can be expected to continue this run at home on Saturday – with Boylesports offering 1.91 for the Forest Green win.
