Evian will be up against big boys Paris Saint Germain as the French Ligue 1 heads into its third week. While Evian have the slightest chance of causing a hiccup, the reigning champions PSG have had to deal with bad news themselves as their talismanic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been ruled out of action for six weeks.
Evian TG’s form
Evian had started the season in poor fashion after going down to Caen (3-0) in the opening weekend. They were poor last weekend as well as they found themselves at the receiving end of a 6-2 hammering at the hands of Rennes. Their form heading into the game against the defending champions are questionable and it seems that they hardly have a chance of posing any threat whatsoever to the financial might of PSG.
PSG drew against Reims in the opening day of the new league season in France with Ibrahimovic scoring both the goals. Laurent Blanc’s side built from their result from the first gameweek to take a 2-0 home victory against Bastia in the second match of the season. Edinson Cavani and Lucas Moura were on the scoresheet for PSG on August 16.
Key Players and Team News
Evian TG: Daniel Wass
Wass scored both goals in Evian’s humiliating defeat to Rennes last week and looked menacing from the right wing position. Although he was a right back earlier on in his career, the Danish international has proved himself to be an able performer on the right wing for his club.
PSG: Lucas Moura
The Brazilian winger did not take too kindly at having been snubbed by former Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari at the World Cup. On the evidence of his displays these past two weeks, it is easy to spot that Lucas has been showing the extra bit of determination and finesse on the park which convinced the club’s owners to pay a hefty sum for his acquisition a couple of years ago.
PSG are expected to cope with the loss of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and beat Evian on Thursday. The defending champions of Ligue 1 are just too superior for a team like Evian, who are yet to win this season. BetVictor are offering 1.4 for a PSG win but I am more interested in 888Sport’s under 2.5 goals to be scored this game which is at 2.14.
