Dundee FC sit fifth in the Scottish Premiership after they defeated St. Johnstone in the last match. Meanwhile, Dundee FC missed a great chance to go atop the league table after drawing a game against current top team, Hamilton Accies.
Dundee FC form: D-W-W-D-W
Dundee FC played with determination to clinch a superb victory against the dominant St. Johnstone side. Some disciplined performance from the Dundee midfield saw them suffocate the Saints attack.
The pick of the bunch was Gary Harkins who provided the necessary drive and zest in the midfield for the away side. Against Dundee United, there’s sterner test and a nervy atmosphere being a local derby.
Dundee United form: W-L-W-W-D
The more successful of the rivals, Dundee United have had a good season so far apart from the blip against Celtic (Result: 6-1 Loss). Last weekend, United had a chance to create a cushion between them and the other sides at the top but couldn’t score the winning goal.
Against Dundee FC, they’ll be playing this first derby of the season and with such fine margins which can decide the table standings, nobody will wish to be on the losing side.
Dundee FC: Gary Harkins
The midfielder was singled out by his manager as a terrific player against the Saints. The second half performance by Harkins was sublime with him controlling the midfield providing the necessary drive. His goal was also a well taken one.
Dundee United: Chris Erskine
The 27-year-old winger has finally settled down after a disappointing 2013 campaign. He’s off to a flyer, scoring three goals in the process and showing exceptional work-rate on the wings. United manager, Jackie McNamara has praised his wide-man over his goal scoring and work ethics. He looks to be the danger man for Dundee FC and the United fans will be hoping that Erskine skins the Dundee defence.
Dundee United may have stuttered in the last match, but they still have an upper hand over their rivals given the way things have gone this season. They start at 2.3 with BetVictor to win this encounter, with two or three goals to be scored in the game (1.95 at bet365)
