Charlton v Middlesbrough | Betting Preview

Date: September 27, 2014
Venue: The Valley, London, England
Kick-off time: 15:00 BST

Chartlon Athletic sit four points off the Championship leaders, Nottingham Forest in a very exciting league to watch. They will face Middlesbrough on Saturday, who have accumulated one point more than Athletic.

Charlton have been scraping through with draws, while their counterpart has been making headlines in the midweek (game against Liverpool).

Charlton Athletic form: L-D-W-D-D

Charlton’s form has been better than expected this season, with unbeaten in the last four Championship games. Against Rotherham last week, they narrowly missed on getting their fourth league win this season. Rotherham were on top of their game against Charlton, but the visiting side scored a goal against the run of play.

Charlton have not been creating many goal-scoring opportunities and that might hurt them against Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough form: L-W-W-W-L

Middlesbrough have been pleasing on the eye with their expansive style of football. This midweek against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup, they showed lot of promise but eventually were knocked out on penalties.

A stunning display against Brenford in the last gameweek and an inspiring performance against Liverpool will boost the team morale and help the Middlesbrough promotion cause.

Key Players

Chartlon Athletic: Tal Ben Haim

The ex-QPR and ex-Portsmouth centre back has been a steady presence at the heart of Charlton’s defence since moving over from Standard Liege. A good passer of the ball, he starts a move from the back for his team. His experience is the biggest advantage for the Charlton team.

Against a much dynamic Middlesbrough side, Ben Haim will be called upon for his expertise.

Middlesbrough: Patrick Bamford

The Chelsea hotshot has been on loans to Championship sides since a long time. His loan spells have been impressive, but not enough to stay at Chelsea. At Middlesbrough, he has been a good player and netted his first Boro goal against Brentford.

His pace and movement can cause lot of problems for the Charlton defence.

Betting Advice

Middlesbrough have more firepower and are favourites to win against Charlton, with bet365 offering 2.2 for their win which looks fair enough. Less than 2.5 goals in the game is priced at 1.72 I think this could be the best play.
