Watch & bet on the Caen v Lille French Ligue 1 match live at bet365
Newly-promoted Caen meet potential Ligue 1 dark horses Lille on Friday for the second matchday of France’s top flight.
In the first matchday, Caen had a confidence-boosting win, while Lille struggled against newly promoted Metz and were only able to manage a draw.
Caen may also have an advantage in that they don’t have to worry about playing in Europe, while Lille will have to play Porto four days after playing Caen in a Champions League playoff.
Caen’s form has been pretty good so far this season, and they got off to a flier in Ligue 1 as they defeated Evian 3-0. They will be confident of being able to taking the attack right to the opposition, Lille on Friday.
Lille’s form has been average so far this season – they qualified for the next round of the Champions League by beating Grashoppers 2-0 on aggregate, yet at the same time couldn’t get past Metz and only drew 0-0.
Since they will have an eye on their Champions League clash on August 20 against Porto, it will be interesting to see if Lille are fully motivated for this game.
Caen: Mathieu Duhamel
Caen’s striker Duhamel is a veteran of French football, and he was crucial to Caen’s recent victory over Evian, as he scored a brace before halftime. He will need to finish his chances if he hopes to get past Lille’s star goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.
Lille: Divock Origi
Lill were frustrated by Metz, and their offense needs to improve if they want to win Ligue 1. Key to that will be on-loan Liverpool striker Divock Origi, who started against Metz but failed to score.
If I were to go by form, I would say Caen to upset Lille. But I think Lille will just have too much quality for Caen and will win 1-0, with Origi getting the winner. Lille are 2.55 to win this match with BetVictor with Ladbrokes paying out 1.71 for less than 2.5 goals to be scored in the game.
