Bulgaria v Croatia | Betting Preview

Venue: Stadion Vasil Levski, Sofia
Kick off time: 19:45 hrs BST

Bulgaria will be up against it as Croatia come calling for the duo’s Euro 2016 qualification match on Friday. The home team will know that home advantage will not count for much against a Croatian team which featured in the World Cup in Brazil earlier this year.

Bulgaria’s form: W-D-W-L-L

Bulgaria come into this fixture after having won at Azerbaijan on September 9. Prior to that the side had drawn 1-1 at home to Canada in May earlier this year. Bulgaria had also beaten Belarus 2-1 at home earlier this year in March.

The last couple of fixtures last year were not very kind on this team as they suffered a couple of defeats – first to Armenia away and then to Czech Republic at home which deflated the morale of this team.

Croatia’s form: W-W-L-W-L

A couple of defeats to Brazil and then Mexico in Group A led to their demise in the FIFA World Cup. However, fact remains that this Croatia side are one of the best that one has had the good fortune to come across in recent times.

They have beaten the likes of Cyprus and Malta, both at home and on 2-0 score lines in their last couple of matches. Hence, it is quite evident that this team are on a mission to prove that they are not half as bad as they were portrayed to be in the World Cup earlier this year.

Key Players

Bulgaria: Ventsislav Hristov

The 25 year old striker had scored a crucial goal at Azerbaijan last month and he will be looking to keep up the good work in front of goal. Bulgaria will need him to cause havoc in the opposition defence and that is what he will be looking to do on Friday.

Croatia: Ivan Rakitic

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic is usually deployed in a more menacing role than Luka Modric by the national team. He has helped the Catalonians regain their hold of top spot in the La Liga after arriving from Sevilla in the off season and Rakitic will be the main playmaker for the visitors on Friday.

Betting Advice

This should be a close thing, but the Croatians will be too hot to handle for the home side and they start at 2.25 with bet365 to win the game. BetVictor also offer 2.1 for both teams to score in the game which could be the case for this one.
