  • As dead rubbers go Fitzcarraldo would have pushed a ship over a mountain to get to this one.
  • Fourth place is still very much up for grabs for both Ross County and St Johnstone and that will keep the money men at both clubs keen. But with European football no longer on the table the players will have little more than pride at stake.
  • That pride may actually mean something. Both The Staggies and The Saints can lay claim to having had fourth place within their grasp before a poor run of form let it slip. They had excellent results last weekend against the top two sides in the country so if nothing else they may want to keep their good form going.
  • I am hoping that is the case because on the face of it this game should be a stick on for goals. Seventeen of Ross County’s twenty-three home games this season have seen three or more goals. It is an even higher percentage for league games with thirteen from seventeen fulfilling the +2.5 goals quota.
  • St Johnstone’s away form is almost as fruitful with fourteen of their nineteen away matches seeing three or more goals. The last head to head between the sides here saw Ross County come back from 2-0 down to level before The Perth Saints nicked an eighty-eighth minute winner.
  • This game could follow a similar path and the prices are certainly conducive. Hopefully the players are more interested in scoring goals than helping a crazed opera fan pull a boat over a hill.
  • Both teams to score has won in all three head to head matches this season and tempts at 1.83 (5/6) with 888Sport.
