  • Saint Mirren have a great chance of getting the no home win monkey off their back this weekend.
  • Alloa come to Paisley in what The Paisley Saints new management team must consider to be a must win game. More than that, they must look at this and think we have to win it well. Things have improved under Alex Rae and David Farrell with two wins from their last five games.
  • One of those games was in Rae’s first game in charge and was a convincing 0-2 win away to this weekend’s visitors. The two defeats to Partick Thistle and Hibernian since then are no disgrace although the 1-4 humbling to Livingston saw the home win spectre raise it’s ugly head again.
  • They have signed well in the transfer window with Rocco Quinn and David Clarkson both joining on loan until the end of the season. They bring proven ability and experience in Scotland’s top flight and could both be in the starting line up on Saturday.
  • But the gist of this Saint Mirren v Alloa betting preview should be focusing on the form of Alloa. The Wasps have scored a grand total of four goals in their last fourteen matches. One of those goals came here in the Paisley 2021 stadium but it is likely to be the exception that proves the rule.
  • In total Alloa have lost ten of their last fourteen games without even scoring a goal in consolation. It’s a miserable statistic that doesn’t bear any hope for escaping relegation this season. Even with the Buddies poor defensive record this season it’s hard to offer any hope for them scoring at all in this one.
  • I am taking a chance on a bet that would have returned handsomely had it been followed throughout the season.
  • For Saint Mirren to Win To Nil pays 2.62 (13/8) with Paddy Power and it looks to be worth a shot to me.
