Hoffenheim v Bayer Leverkusen

Date: December 17, 2014
Venue: Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena, Sinsheim, Germany
Kick-off time: 19:00 BST

The top half of the table has a very interesting scenario, any team losing or winning a match can turn the standings upside down (except for Bayern Munich). Hoffenheim are in the seventh position with 23 points, whereas Bayer Leverkusen is third with 24 points.

Both the teams have an equal opportunity to get in/maintain the top four slot. The game will surely be a well-contested one.

TSG Hoffenheim form: L-L-W-D-L

Hoffenheim’s league form has suffered over the past few matches and it looks shaky. Two wins and three loses in the past five league games is not a bad record yet the manner of those losses will be hurtful, especially the one against Bayern Munich.

In their previous match against Eintracht Frankfurt, they won a high scoring game that brought forth some interesting findings. The Hoffenheim defence needs to be stronger and disciplined if they are to move further up the table.

Bayer Leverkusen form: L-W-L-D-D

Bayer Leverkusen’s early season form has deserted them and they find themselves on the brink of moving out of the top three spots if they fail to win. The league form is patchy and looks like they have lost their scoring touch.

Goals have dried up for Leverkusen in the past few match, both domestically as well as on the European stage (exception being the league match against Koln).

Key Players

TSG Hoffenheim: Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian brings some flair to the Hoffenheim midfield. After a successful 2013/14 season with Hoffenheim, he is moving towards another good season. His thunderous right shot is synonymous with his excellent ball control and vision.

Bayer Leverkusen: Lars Bender

The midfield marshall, Bender is coveted by all the top teams in Europe and his performances early on in the season did not go unnoticed. The form might have tailed off, but his engine is still revved up.

Betting Advice

Bayer Leverkusen do have a good team, but considering the goal-scoring crisis Leverkusen are going through Hoffenheim have a good chance to try and draw the game. A drawn match is at 3.75 with William Hill. Under 2.5 goals in the game at 2.36 with BetVictor and also looks a decent bet.
